1. What Tradiespy is

Tradiespy is an online platform that introduces customers who need work done to independent trade businesses who may be able to do that work. That is the whole of our role.

We are not a builder, plumber, electrician, contractor, employer, agent, insurer, broker or adviser. We do not carry out, supervise, price, schedule, project-manage, guarantee or inspect any work, and we are not a party to any contract you enter into with the other party.

2. Verification is best-effort only

We try our level best to check the businesses listed on Tradiespy — for example business numbers (NZBN/ABN), identity documents, contact details, stated services and coverage areas, and reviews left on the platform.

These checks are best-effort, are carried out at a point in time, and rely on information supplied by third parties. They are not an audit, an endorsement, a licence check, a background check, or a guarantee of skill, honesty, licensing, registration, insurance, solvency or quality.

You must do your own due diligence before engaging anyone: ask for licences and registrations (for example EWRB, Master Plumbers, LBP), proof of insurance, references and a written scope of work.

3. Quotes, contracts and payment

Any quote, price, timeline, availability, scope or promise shown on Tradiespy is provided by the trade business, not by us. We do not verify its accuracy and we do not set or control pricing.

When you accept a quote, the resulting agreement is directly between you and the trade business, on their terms. Payment is arranged directly between you — Tradiespy does not hold funds, does not process job payments and is not an escrow service.

4. No liability for workmanship or conduct

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tradiespy accepts no liability of any kind for anything arising out of, or in connection with, an introduction made through the platform. This includes (without limitation) workmanship, defects, delays, non-completion, incorrect or misleading quotes, cost overruns, property damage, personal injury, theft, loss of data, loss of profit, consequential loss, unlicensed or uninsured work, breaches of law or building code, failure to obtain consents, disputes, abusive or fraudulent conduct, or the acts or omissions of any customer or trade business.

You use the platform, and engage anyone found through it, entirely at your own risk. Any claim you have relating to a job must be pursued against the other party, not against Tradiespy.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims is limited to NZ$100 or, at our option, re-supplying the platform service to you.

5. Content, reviews and messages

Job descriptions, photos, profiles, reviews and chat messages are created by users. We do not verify them and we are not responsible for their accuracy, legality or tone. We may moderate, edit or remove content and suspend accounts at any time, but we are under no obligation to monitor.

Keep the conversation on the platform where possible — chat transcripts can be exported by either party and may be used as a record of what was agreed.

6. Your responsibilities

Customers: describe the job honestly, allow safe access to the site, satisfy yourself about the tradie's licences, insurance and suitability, and agree the scope and price in writing before work starts.

Trade businesses: hold and maintain all licences, registrations, certifications and insurances required by law, comply with health and safety obligations, quote honestly, and do the work to the standard required by New Zealand law and the Consumer Guarantees Act. You are an independent business, not our employee, contractor or agent.

7. Consumer law

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those rights cannot lawfully be excluded. Those rights apply to the trade business who supplies the work — Tradiespy only supplies the introduction platform.

8. Indemnity

You indemnify Tradiespy against any claim, loss, cost or expense (including legal costs) arising from your use of the platform, the work you carry out or engage someone to carry out, your content, or your breach of these terms or of any law.

9. Availability and changes

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, that quotes will be received, or that any particular tradie or customer will respond.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Tradiespy after an update means you accept the current version.

10. Law and contact

These terms are governed by New Zealand law and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
